Definition of Supply chain :

Definition of Supply chain management
"It is termed as the management of the flow of goods."
"It is the effective integration of suppliers, warehouse, factors and stores so that the merchandise is produced and distributed in the right quality, right location and the right time."

Evaluation of SCM
० Creation Era: was introduced by Keith Oliver in 1982.
० Integration Era: The SCM was connected with electronic data interchange in 1960 and developed by Enterprise resource planning system in the 1990s.
० Globalization Era: Can be characterised by the attention given to the global system of the supplier's relation and the expansion if the supply chain beyond national boundaries into other countries.
० Specialization Era1: creates manufacturing and distribution networks composed of serial individual supply chain specific produce to end-users.
Specialization Era2: this involves many functions such as transportation, panning based management and performance-based management.
